Detailed Itinerary

Day 1-3 - Chelinda Camp, Nyika Plateau

As soon as you are done with breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive you over to Chelinda, an alpine experience, unique on the African continent. Located high on the Nyika Plateau within Nyika National Park, Chelinda Camp overlooks a crystal-clear dam with panoramic views of rolling hills, isolated ridges and open high-altitude with a rich experience of grasslands, leopards to orchids.  Warm clothing should be packed as nights and early mornings on the plateau get chilly.

Day 3-5 - The Mushroom Farm, Livingstonia

After breakfast, get prepared to leave Chelinda Camp, you will be transferred to The Mushroom Farm which overlooks the Great Rift Valley and breathtaking Lake Malawi, the Mushroom Farm Eco-Lodge is where you will stay. This environmentally friendly lodge offers a comfortable base and is a magical setting for travelers.

If you are not enjoying the views here then you can visit the colonial town of Livingstonia, a walk in the forest or a visit to Manchewe falls.

Day 5-7 - Mayoka Village Lodge, Nkhatabay

Today after breakfast, we will head to Mayoka Village Lodge.

Nkhatabay is situated on the lush northern shores of Lake Malawi and has an almost Caribbean feel, with its fishing boats buzzing across the green bay, market stalls hawking barbecued fish, and reggae filling the languorous afternoons. The friendly fishing town and Rasta haunt makes a wonderful base to spend a few days sunbathing and tagging everything with #GiveAGuyAGreen, at Mayoka Village Lodge perched on cliffs tumbling down to the lake. Be careful not to entirely give yourself over to lotus eating, though, for there are loads of activities to enjoy before you hammock flop, be it snorkelling, diving, fish-eagle feeding, kayaking or forest walks.

Day 7-9 - Kachenga Bush Camp, Nkhotakota

After breakfast at Mayoka Village Lodge you will be transfered to Kachenga Bush Camp in the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve where you will accommodated for the night. Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve offers breath-taking views over the beautiful Bua River, it provides a truly exceptional experience of this pristine wildlife reserve. Unlike many African game reserves, the wildlife in Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve have never been exposed to large groups of people which is what makes this region so special; it is an authentic wilderness. The undisturbed wildlife is shy to noise and the best ways to explore the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve is by foot. Led by an expert guide and armed park scout the peaceful walking safaris travel deep into the wilderness.

Day 9-12: Cape Maclear, Monkeybay

After breakfast, it is now time to drive to your next piece of paradise on the southern part of Lake Malawi. Arriving at Cape Maclear  you will drive straight to Mgoza Lodge. It is home to Lake Malawi National Park, first freshwater national park in the world. Although the Lake covers one-third of the country, the National Park is only 94km² including a land area around the cape, Domwe and Thumbi islands and, of course, the lake up to 100 meters off shore. There are hiking trails around the national park and the hikes aren’t particularly challenging. What makes this part of the lake exciting is snorkeling with a 1000+ cichlids, fish eagle feeding and a walk in the village to get to see the everyday life of an average Malawian and ending at one of the many lodges on the beach for a drink. Sunset cruise and hippo spotting or kayaking is just one of the many things to do here.

Day 12-14: Zomba Plateau, Zomba

Enjoy your last morning at Cape Maclear. After breakfast, we will depart from the Cape Macler and head towards the beautiful Zomba Plateau. Estimated time of arrival in Zomba is around lunch time, we will drive straight to the Pakachere Lodge, in a stunning location of Zomba town. You will head for the plateau in the morning, it is a wonder, a one-off feature, it is an upland area of forest and farmland, it occupies a total area of about 130 square km. It rises from the surrounding plain and is an oasis of beauty and calm. Zomba Plateau is radically different from what surrounds it – it is cooler, it has rare varieties of plants, it offers some breath-taking views, and is a haven of seclusion and peace.

Hike, Horse ride, Observe the colonial architecture, Fishing and Cycling are some of the many things to do here.

Day 14: End Of Tour

End of tour. You will depart for Lilongwe arriving in the afternoon.
